Unknown protein-coding genes

Text:

PomBase maintains an inventory of proteins with no known biological role. Proteins are classed as "unknown" if there is no information available from experiments, sequence comparisons, etc. its about the broad cellular role (corresponding to any of the high level biological process GO Slim classes). We also provide a precomputed list of uncharacterised genes that are conserved between S. pombe and vertebrates. Further information, including how to retrieve other subsets of the unknown genes, is available in the FAQ on conserved unstudied proteins.
