Definition
A cellular process phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which cell separation is instantaneous and asymmetrical, with a ripped primary septum. Explosive cell separation takes a few seconds (rather than 5-6 minutes as in wild type) and involves asymmetrical degradation and/or breakage of the septum edging followed by an abrupt tear of a weak primary septum and an instantaneous curvature of the secondary septum.
