A cell morphology phenotype in which a cell is shaped in the form of a pear, and has a larger volume than normal, in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle. One end is rounded, while the other resembles an end of a normal rod-shaped cell. The normally shaped end has the same diameter as a wild-type cell.
