A cell cycle checkpoint phenotype in which the S-phase DNA damage checkpoint (also known as the intra-S phase DNA damage checkpoint) is normal (i.e. indistinguishable from wild type) when the cell is exposed to hydroxyurea. The S phase DNA damage checkpoint slows progression through S phase in response to DNA damage.
