A cell morphology phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which a cell is curved along the long axis to form a \"J\" shape. In a curved cell, the long axis follows a smooth bend rather than a straight line. In a J-shaped cell, the curve is centered away from the midpoint of the long axis of the cell.
