A physical cellular phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which vacuoles are larger than normal after a cell has been subjected to hypotonic osmotic stress. Normally, vacuoles enlarge during hypotonic stress, and return to the original smaller size when the stress is relieved, either due to shrinking or fission.
