- A phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which cells show increased sensitivity to butylated hydroxytoluene (dibutylhydroxytoluene; BHT). Cells stop growing (and may die) at a concentration of butylated hydroxytoluene that allows wild type cells to grow.
