A cell phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which the localization of a protein to the mitotic spindle midzone during prophase is normal (i.e. indistinguishable from wild type). The mitotic spindle midzone is the area in the center of the mitotic spindle where the spindle microtubules from opposite poles overlap.
