- Definition
- A cell phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which the intracellular calcium ion (Ca2+) concentration briefly increases abnormally, or does not change, immediately following osmotic shock. Normally, the intracellular Ca2+ concentration increases to a peak in a \"burst\" within one minute, and then decreases to a new steady-state concentration.
