GO biological process ontology term - GO:1990273 - snRNA 2,2,7-trimethylguanosine (TMG) capping

Term summary

ID
GO:1990273
Name
snRNA 2,2,7-trimethylguanosine (TMG) capping
Ontology or CV name
GO biological process
Definition
The sequence of enzymatic reactions by which a 2,2,7-trimethylguanosine (TMG) cap structure is added to the 5' end of an snRNA. The process begins with the formation of a 7-methylguanosine cap, as found on all RNA polymerase II transcripts, followed by dimethylation at the N2 position of the guanine base to convert the monomethylated cap to a 2,2,7-trimethylguanosine cap structure.
